I was downvoted s***.I left Sydney for Melbourne just over half a year ago. My only regret is that I didn't leave sooner! Don’t miss the traffic but I really miss good Lebanese food. The attitude in northern Europe is far more human focussed and you get the distinct impression there that decisions are made to benefit people, not money.I completely agree, except I'd argue that Scandinavia pursues capital just as ruthlessly as the rest of the western world does, they just understand the long term benefit of giving a little more to maintain a happy and passive consumerist workforce.We are so poorly governed that decisions occur to favour capital and other ends rather achieve human focussed needs.
I don't drive so the traffic rarely bothers me too much.

This is the ultimate problem in Australia.
So I thought Australia might be the perfect place for me because it's basically a hotter version of Canada: 1. While Melbourne has its own issues, and for sure isn't cheap, I feel it has much more character and life than Sydney does. I don't even have a car!But I have friends that live a bit farther away, are studying, struggling a bit with money, and they are not enjoying it as much...Housing prices are absolutely crazy expensive, but that's just the result of many people wanting to live here.I have been living in Sydney since I got to Australia a couple of years back, I feel I don't have a great idea of what it's like living outside of the major cities.oh i was just curious, living in a city is way too costly for my budget.although at one point i was considering moving to Bundaberg, Brisbane or Sydney, but all 3 options are too costlyI like it. And living in Silicon Valley, I find the people here are amazing but I'm so tired of having to be "on" and happy and selling myself all the time, and living in a rat race. The weather, the beaches, the nature <3Unless you live in the western suburbs where it takes hours to get to those brilliant spots.I agree - people bitch and moan and I think 'try living somewhere else!'

I like that a lot of the food is fresh and has fewer preservatives. Grew up in Sydney, moved to Adelaide when I was about 25 and then to Brisbane when I was 28.
Calculations below: Avg Monthly Repayments for 2 Yr Fixed Term: $4,632 Net Monthly Income: $8,748 Living Expenses: $2,700 (2 Adults no Children) Savings Capacity: $1,416 Per Month Seems doable, and just refi after the first 2 years are up. I can't say I've regretted the decision. It takes longer, but the time is your own.People will complain all the time, but living here is brilliant!
