She even sizes up all the "tragic backstory" options for Bautista's character we expect. I love action movies, and comedies, but they rarely work together. We see where this relationship is going from the second they discover each other—she needs a father figure, he needs to open his heart—but Coleman and Bautista have such a playful, spiky way with each other, it’s hard not to be charmed. With that set-up, you can pretty much guess every single one of the ups and downs that a movie like this would have and It doesn't miss a mark on that front.
