In isolation at home and flicking through ITV hub I came across a Dawn French show I wasn't aware of, wasn't initially sure why this had passed me by. regrettably it's neither. Even her husband (Mark Heap) is a parody of Hugo in the Vicar of Dibley series. I would be interested to see other projects by this writer and how he develops, as there's such warmth and heart in the writing that can't be learned, you just have to HAVE it, you know? And Dawn French reverts to type as a hyped-up version of the Vicar of Dibley - equal parts zany, idiotic and annoying. I think the writing is beautiful. When a seemingly perfect and happy family is murdered by someone they knew and trusted, cracks appear on the surface of a supposedly idyllic community. That a grown, intelligent woman would trust a radio reporter and do a hatchet job on every friend and acquaintance she has, yes I know he got her a bit tipsy but for God's sake that was just plain ridiculous. Good story and good acting So much talent around and we get this.. I really enjoyed the first episode! The 3 stars are for the lovely SW countryside and a mostly decent cast. But with no job, no qualifications and a rebellious streak a mile wide, it's not going to be easy.

I've half-watched this go nowhere for the last 3 episodes. Each show seems mainly to consist of Dawn French gurning her way through an uncomfortable hour. The plot is ludicrous - an ill judged radio interview where the gurner in chief slags off everyone in the village.
